Centenary Events
In 2007 we celebrated the
centenary of the "New Church". A major part of our celebration was the
renovation of the church building, but we arranged a series of celebratory
events. These reflected one of our objectives for
2005-2006, "to involve our community in our celebration of the centenary of the
New Church". They also reflected Holy Trinity's close ties to Canterbury over
many centuries. So what did we do to celebrate this event?
On Friday 14th – 15th July we held an Arts and Crafts exhibition, featuring work
by our Art Group Trinitas Painters, the church Youth Organisations, local
schools and individuals. It was a great success.
On September 29th and 30th, our Harvest Festival weekend, there was a Flower Festival in church. This was on the theme "Parables of Jesus" and was a wonderful success. In addition, the choir and musicians from Temple Sutton school gave a concert on the Friday afternoon which was appreciate by a large audience. Refreshments were served in the Parish House and this venture was successful both socially and financially.
On Saturday October 14th Canterbury Cathedral Choir gave a concert in
church. The church was packed with appreciative listeners.
