PEOPLE

The present Rector is Revd Canon Michael Arthur Ballard BA who was appointed to the parish in 1990. Michael lives in the  Rectory at 8 Pilgrims Close, Southend-on-Sea SS2 4XF (tel 01702466423 - e-mail michael@ballard4701.fsnet.co.uk) with his wife, Christine.  They have two daughters, Sarah and Helen who now live away from home. Michael was Rural Dean of Southend for 6 years until September 2000.
 

Revd Lynn Hurry was ordained Deacon at Chelmsford Cathedral on 3rd July 20and is "serving her title" at Holy Trinity.  She comes from North London and has spent most of her adult life working in many ways for the church. She spent five years in St Saviour's Priory but her call to the priesthood made her leave the community and seek ordination. She has a BA (Hons) in Contextual Theology. However, she leaves the parish in August to become the incumbent at St Mary-at-Latton in Harlow.



The Reader Emeritus is Mr Victor Murlis. Victor has been a Lay Reader for over 40 years.

 



John Atkinson has been a Reader in Southend Churches for 23 years. He is now licensed to assist at Holy Trinity where he helps as a Preacher and has other Reader duties. John and his wife Barbara have three children and five grandchildren.
 

 


Michael Penry has been a Churchwarden since 1996. He is married to Alison and they have three children who all sing in the choir.

 

 

Chris Hammond became a Churchwarden at the same time as Michael Penry. Chris's major interest is in youth work both in the parish and beyond.  He spends most of his summer holidays being a leader at a Christian youth camp.


 

 

Linda Wonnacott has been Secretary to the Parochial Church Council for 6 years and is also Editor of the parish magazine TRINITAS. She is a full time carer, looking after her daughter Claire but finds time to act as Verger at weddings & funerals, type new versions of our main services, run the photocopier and act as general factotum to the parish. She also maintains the bookings for our Parish House
 


James Kidgell took over the post of PCC Treasurer at the 2002 Annual Parish Church Meeting and handed over to Philip Overman at the APCM in 2007.  He continues as Gift Aid Recorder. He is married to Helen and both of them sing in the church choir

Philip Overman succeeded James Kidgell as PCC Treasurer at the APCM in 2007. He is married to
Faith and they have recently moved into the area following Philip's retirement from London Underground Ltd. They live a stone's throw from the church in Sackville Road.

 

 

Roger Humphrey has been Organist and Director of Music since 1983. He is married to Rosemary - professional name Rosemary Pennington- and they have two daughters who both sing in the choir with their mother. Roger and Rosemary also run the Southend Boys Choir and the Girls Choir and Roger is the Musical Director of the Southend Choral Society.
